Your idea deserves
a chance.

I’m Arthur. I help agencies and teams bring their ideas to life, with Drupal at the core. I see what an idea needs, build it properly and keep it moving. Just ask around.1234567

01 / The person behind the name

Arthur LorenzHi, I’m Arthur
Vienna-born. Naturally curious.

Arthur Lorenz.The person behind utor.

A developer with deep Drupal roots and a soft spot for good ideas, especially the ones that need a little help getting started.

I’ve spent 9+ years building websites and applications with teams in Vienna and Berlin. Backend development, decoupled frontends, content migrations, and the connections in between.

What I enjoy most is the moment an idea becomes real for the people behind it. A podcast that went on air. A large migration, brought live step by step. A colleague whose talent finally got the recognition it deserved.

Drupal is more than the technology I work with. I’m part of its community, and the people and shared knowledge behind it matter to me as much as the code. I share what I know and help colleagues grow. And when an idea of my own won’t leave me alone, I usually end up building it.

drunomics

Fullstack Developer

Back in Vienna 🇦🇹, back at drunomics, building decoupled Drupal applications with Lupus Decoupled Drupal and Nuxt on enterprise scale. I was responsible for the migration of Volkswagen’s Infoportal from its predecessor systems, and on mossbo I drove the brand identity and contributed to product and roadmap decisions. I push for better workflows across the team and naturally mentor junior colleagues.

2020 - 2022

1xINTERNET

Backend Developer

Backend developer at a warm-hearted Drupal agency rooted in the open source community. I shipped backend work for projects like the World Organization of the Scout Movement and UTBW, and authored a module to detect duplicate images in the media library. On the side I explored modern frontends with web components and supported junior colleagues in growing their skillsets.

2019 - 2020

IBM iX - Aperto

Backend Developer

Backend developer at IBM iX’s Berlin 🇩🇪 agency, building custom Drupal modules, content models, and integrations for enterprise web projects.

2017 - 2019

drunomics

Fullstack Developer

My start at drunomics in Vienna 🇦🇹, a Drupal agency specialized on publishers. I grew quickly into frontend, backend and DevOps work and was given the opportunity to take responsibility as tech lead on several projects. The supportive senior team and the Drupal open source ecosystem shaped how I work to this day.

Education

2015 - 2017

App/Web Developer - FH Technikum Wien

A 3-semester academic program covering mobile and web development alongside project management and IT business fundamentals. This is where I picked up the foundations that carried me into my first developer roles.

2012 - 2015

Mathematics - Universität Wien

Three years of higher mathematics sharpened the abstract and logical thinking I rely on every day as a developer. I left the program before completing it once I realized I wanted to build practical things rather than prove them.

Always curious. Always learning. Occasionally interrupted by my cats.

02 / What I do

A good addition
to your team.

Wherever your idea stands, I can join in. From the first concept to a live website. Hands-on development, a view of the whole system, and a collaborative way of working.

01

Shape the idea.

Before anything gets built: what is the idea really, who is it for, and what does it need? I help sort out the concept, the product decisions, and the story that makes people care.

  • Concept
  • Product decisions
  • Brand & story
02

Build something solid.

Custom modules, thoughtful content models, and integrations, built properly, so your Drupal site works the way you need it to.

  • Drupal & PHP
  • Custom development
  • APIs & integrations
03

Make the next move.

Bring your content into a new home. I untangle legacy structures and move them step by step, with a clear path from old to new.

  • Content migrations
  • Data modelling
  • Legacy systems
04

Connect the pieces.

A strong Drupal backend and a frontend with room to breathe. I build decoupled applications and help the whole stack work together.

  • Decoupled Drupal
  • Vue & Nuxt
  • Lupus

Two ways to work together

  • Hands-on.

I join your team as a freelance developer, on any Drupal project that needs custom work. From one tricky feature to a whole new platform.

  • As a consultant.

Architecture and tech decisions, audits and code reviews, migration plans, and AI-assisted workflows for your team. Advice you can act on.

How I work

Agentic workflows. Human judgment.

AI lets me build faster, so ideas reach the real world sooner. But speed only counts if the result is right. I work with several AI models in an agentic workflow and stay the human in the loop, from architecture through review and testing. I also help teams set up workflows like this.

  1. I’m the architect.

I set the direction and decide how the pieces fit together.

  2. I’m the reviewer.

I review the changes and take responsibility for the code.

  3. I’m the tester.

I test the result against what the project actually needs.

Hands-on, advice, or a bit of both?
Let’s find out what fits.

Agency-friendly.
Human-friendly, too.

03 / Selected work

Good work.
Made together.

A few projects I’ve contributed to with good teams. Here’s what I brought to the table.

01

Content migration · Decoupled Drupal

Volkswagen Infoportal (opens in a new tab)

Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Audi moved from different legacy systems onto one shared Infoportal. I improved the migration system, fixed issues one by one so progress stayed visible, and built backend features along the way.

Brand & story · Product decisions · Cloud CMS

mossbo (opens in a new tab)

At drunomics we had built a strong product: a fully managed cloud CMS with a decoupled frontend. It was still lacking a brand that made its vision visible. I took the initiative, gathered input from the team and our designer, and pitched the brand to leadership. The result is mossbo.

04 / Projects & experiments

Can’t help
building things.

Some ideas won’t leave me alone, so I build them. Open-source tools, side projects, and a home for three historians’ podcast.

Made to be heard.

Open source / Drupal module

A podcast, ready to publish.

An opinionated Drupal setup for podcasts. Content types, an RSS feed, and optional download analytics, ready to go.

Old stories. A new home.

Three historians had a podcast idea and a tight budget. One Drupal backend now powers their feed and a custom Nuxt website.
